Station and Mission of Baha’u’llah
“Sure,” nodded the children, and Asma answered, “The perfect polished Mirror that perfectly reflects God.” The family had just talked about this a few days ago.
“And that is how all of us humans know what God wants us to do, and how we should act!” added Shahla. “Like angels not like animals!” put in little Anisa, and everyone laughed. “Yes, that’s right.” said Father, patting Anisa’s head. “Well that is kind of the surface of Baha’u’llah’s Station, the Perfect Polished Mirror that perfectly reflects God for this day and age. But what that means really is much, much deeper—we use the word ‘Profound’. For one thing, the Manifestation of God is the only way man can grow and mature, individually or collectively. He is the Divine Educator, or Teacher for His time and place.”
“That means it has two parts,” clarified Mother, smiling.
“Yes, two parts,” Father agreed. “The Spiritual part, the Divine….that means of God, and the other part is the Physical or human part. That is so that people can understand what God wants them to do. Humans can’t ever know God, so we need something in between God and Man to let us know what God wants to tell us. So even though Baha’u’llah, or Jesus, or Buddha, or Muhammad or Moses, may have looked like a man, They were something more, and when They spoke, it was the Voice of God. And in this day and age we have Baha’u’llah, Whose Teachings are what is to guide all of mankind for the next thousand years or more, until the next Manifestation of God comes.” Asma tilted his head and said, “I heard something about Baha’u’llah as the Supreme Manifestation of God. What is that about?” “Yeah, whose dispensation would last 500,000 years!” added Mona, “We heard about it at Summer School.” Mother thought a moment and said, “There are preschool teachers and elementary school teachers, and Jr. High School, and High School teachers, and then College teachers. All these teachers are really smart, and a High School teacher isn’t necessarily smarter than a first grade teacher. But they teach differently for the students they have. The Manifestations of God taught mankind at different levels of mankind’s maturity. So Moses, Jesus, Mohammed, and Buddha all had different jobs. No One was better than Another, just Their jobs were different. Well Baha’u’llah’s job is to protect and teach mankind for the next 500,000 years. Even though there will be other Manifestations of God every 1,000 years or so, They will be under the shadow of Baha’u’llah…He is like the Principle over all the other Teachers. That’s what makes this such a special day. The Day when the Supreme Manifestation of God has come!”* Mother finished with, “That’s a simplified version. As you get older you will study and understand more and more about the Station and Life of Baha’u’llah.” “Wow if that is the simplified version, I would hate to hear the complicated version,” Riaz said jumping up…and everyone laughed. “Now the second part of Mona’s question!” put in Mother. “The Mission of Baha’u’llah! That also is in two parts. One is to change the world into a more loving, and healthy, and happy place for everyone. And the other is to bring every person closer and closer to God so that each of us becomes more loving, and kind, and happy. Baha’u’llah, like every Manifestation of God, is helping humans to grow to be more like angels…” Mother smiled at Anisa as she said that, “…and growing civilization into a more healthy and happy world! With the other Manifestations of God, mankind was still in its infancy or childhood, but now, mankind as a whole has become an adult, so we need teachings to help us bring about One World Family.”
“I remember Christ said; ‘The Kingdom of God on Earth!’” put in Mona. “That is right Mona. This is the Promised Day of God that all the world religions have been foretelling and all the people waiting for.” Father added, “The Word of the Manifestation of God has the Power to change the hearts of people, and to change the world. When They say something, just speaking it changes mankind.” Mother continued, “For example, when Baha’u’llah and the Bab came in the middle of the 1800s the world was quite different than it is today. For one thing, there was slavery! Slavery had always existed throughout history, in every culture. But Baha’u’llah forbid it, and said that we were all the same—no one higher or lower than another. One soul is equal to another no matter what difference there is on the outside. The Manifestation of God forbid slavery, and mankind changed, without even knowing why they did. The same with the equality of men and women: Baha’u’llah said it was so, and miraculously….that means like magic…. the thoughts of people changed and so the laws changed too. Everything Baha’u’llah said is changing the world into a more peaceful and happy place, little by little.” “WOW! And people don’t even realize why,” said Asma
“Well no one except the people who have found Baha’u’llah and know what is going on!” said Mona, smugly. “Yes, and the more people that know about Baha’u’llah and His teachings, and the harder they work to spread this message… the faster the world can change. That is because more and more people will try to obey His teachings,” agreed Mother. “Yeah, I guess all the religions were waiting for people to get their act together and start acting like one human family, instead like a bunch of wild animals!” Riaz said loudly. “But that can only happen if each person recognizes the Voice of God for this day, and obeys all of His Teachings,” added Father.
“What else did Baha’u’llah say?” asked Riaz. “Well, He said, ‘…these ruinous wars shall pass away and the Most Great Peace shall come,’” said Mother. “Yeah! That will be GREAT! No more war!” shouted the children. “But to do that, each of us has to get rid of our prejudices; that means to not see the outside of people, only their souls. We all have to work on that,” explained Mother. Father ended with, “Throughout your lives I am counting on you to continue to study the Life and Teachings of Baha’u’llah, to understand and obey, and to help guide others to this Life-Giving Water. I have complete confidence in all my children; that you will carry out this sacred responsibility…to help make this world a heaven on earth!!”
“Thanks Dad: no pressure, right?” teased Riaz….and everyone laughed. “You are all wonderful children and I am sure you will do fine!” agreed Mother as she gave each of them a kiss on the top of their head. Then the children all followed Riaz as they ran outside to play in the beautiful Okinawan sunshine. |
